Kenneth B. Ferguson--Professional Biography:
Ken Ferguson has been appointed by Governor Mike Beebe to serve as the Executive Director for the Arkansas Workforce Investment Board. Mr. Ferguson joins the Governor’s Cabinet after serving for over 25 years as Director of Human Resources for the City of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. As Human Resource Director, he was responsible for all areas of employee relations, including recruitment, compensation, benefits, employee training, risk management and safety, labor relations, and affirmative action.
Mr. Ferguson has enjoyed a diverse professional history in fields ranging from broadcast journalism to legislation. He worked for 4½ years in news media as an announcer, news director, and later the program director for KCAT Radio in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He has a certification in real estate and has extensive training in the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Equal Employment Law, worker’s compensation, personnel law and management, and fair housing law and investigation.
Mr. Ferguson is a proud alumnus of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Social Science. His civic service has included membership with the Pine Bluff chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and the South Leadership Conference. He is a member of the Haygood Masonic Lodge #407 and St. Bethel Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
Mr. Ferguson is a native of Pine Bluff where he lives with his wife, Janice. The Fergusons have one son, Kenneth Robert Fredrick Ferguson, and one daughter, Kendra LaShae Bell. They are also the proud grandparents of four beautiful and spirited grandchildren.
